Respect: Part of the 753 Code

When writing these articles about the 753 code I need a starting point.  I find that looking up the definition of the word helps me understand what I need to write about it also confirms that I have the right idea.  The definition in the dictionary is:

respect

noun and verb

  1. – a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

  1. – due regard for the feelings, wishes, or rights of others.

Having respect for abilities and qualities is definitely something that is earned over time.  My respect for Ju Jutsu grows every time I step on the mat, the skills and abilities that we learn are life changing and carry through into the world away from the mats.

Ju Jutsu has a way of getting into all aspects of your life from increased confidence, the health benefits, being relaxed in tense situations (for me, this needs work) even down to making your desk more efficient.  Ju Jutsu is always there in one way or another.

Treating people with respect is admirable being polite and courteous to everyone regardless of race, religion or politics makes you a better human being.  Until its time not to be polite and courteous and the gloves come off, luckily Ju Jutsu gives us the ability and the skills to deal with that too.

You have to respect that..
